Dullstroom here we come! Kingsmead Senior Girls grade 8 arrived on their first day of high school to bond with each other & their teachers, build team spirit and relationships. This they accomplished saying "it was the best tour ever!"

Activities: The girls kicked off with some fun and active ice breakers, rotating in teams, through tug of war and a survivor style challenge where the winning team was the first to fill the water pipes using any available extremity to block the leaks.

Other Optional add on Activities at extra cost: Dullstroom Birds Of Prey Centre which is very informative & humourous as well as a bird flying display, Art workshop sessions, horse riding, game walks, boeresports, fly fishing training, fly fishing licence.

Facilities: Hot water swimming pool, jacuzzi, hiking areas, biking routes, Game viewing, plenty of space for outdoor activites.

Chalets: "Then we settled into the well appointed rooms, a range of chalets, rondavels and the old farm house. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious, most with en-suite.  All bedding, cutlery & crockery was conveniently provided for us by the venue."

The teachers were thrilled with their lovely log cabin, privately situated amidst lush green gardens. Teacher accommodation has a fully equipped kitchen (not that it is needed), fully furnished lounge / dining room and quaint bedrooms with a couple of en-suite bathrooms. School staff couldn't speak more favourably of their digs.

Oh... the food!  Celeste and her great catering team laid on a spread of delicious, nutritious and varied meals so beautifully presented with special diets included. No one complained and every one was extremely complimentary.

Facilitators: Ross & his team put together a great programme of professionally facilitated games and challenges to meet the camp objectives.

Relax: There is no lack of things to do on site besides the programme, including a fair balance of free time to swim in the indoor heated swimming pool (just right for the highland climate) or the beautiful "canal" below the camp. The girls even enjoyed time out playing on the  equipment or just chilling on the lawns under the shady willow trees.

There is no end to the list of benefits and activities in the highlands. We can customise a programme to suit your group requests such as leadership ID & development, life-orientation, skills, team building, fun, adventure, sports or leadership/staff conference breakaways.

Testimonial written by Jeanne Gildenhuys (Grade 8 2009) for Kingsmead College Magazine Article  "Camp is a lot of fun for everyone (or at least it is supposed to be). Being brand new and knowing little about high school this camp helped us a lot.  It was miraculous, the way the camp succeeded in helping us meet new people, make new friends and to learn how to work in groups. The counsellors and teachers played a great role in looking after us, but allowing us freedom to a certain limit. For instance, we got time to mix and mingle with our peers to be. We learnt a lot, in such a way, that we didn’t realize that we were learning. It was anything but boot camp! We got to choose a lot of what we wanted to do, swimming in the dam was our choice, as well dancing until late at night. I always think back to people complaining at every single camp about the food and accommodation. This time it was different, we actually got proper beds and we couldn’t wait for mealtimes! The food was delicious and in the mornings they served fresh fruit juice and so much food to choose from; we would stand in the queue for ages trying to decide what to take. Lunch and dinner time were just the same for all. “Dormitories” is not the correct word for what we slept in - more like chalets! The camp was in a beautiful setting with many dams and rivers. It was quiet and natural, something lots of people our age lack, so that was a plus. We were entertained by a tame but scary ostrich, a cute dachshund, many interesting birds and a troop of small wild horses. Grade 8 camp, what can I say? It was a great experience!"
