Our safe, virtually crime-free village of Dullstoom is nestled between hills & trout rivers above the Mpumalanga escarpment. Awesome views: We boast the best country views that the village of Dullstroom has to offer. Take time out to relax, absorb the peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding wetlands, nearby trout dams & Dullstroom's own "Suikerboschkop" mountain.

Climate: Bask in the temperate to warm Summer days that are never too hot but remember your warmest winter woolies for those chilly, misty winter nights.

room, (2 single beds, & a double bunk or more by prior arrangement) en-suite shower/loo, self cater kitchenette, full PVR DSTV television channels, covered shady braai (BBQ)area, large garden spaces.

Accommodation Suite - 2: Ground floor 2 single bed & a double bunk , en-suite bath/shower/loo, self cater kitchenette, open to large garden spaces.


Fully furnished & equipped for  self-catering but should you prefer to eat out, then take your pick from up to 35 delightful restaurants & pubs in & around Dullstroom (listed below) The charming village centre & "high" srteet is only a pleasant 10 minute walk away.

DIRECTIONS: GPS Co-ordinates:  25°24' 38"S    30° 6' 9"E    (These are correct co-ords but many GPS's have led people to the wrong road outside of the village for some unexplainable reason!)

From Gauteng (Johannesburg or Pretoria) take N4 Eastwards past Witbank & Middleburg (or from the east travel N4 westward to Belfast)
• Take Belfast off ramp & follow signs into town, go through a few stop streets until your see Dullstroom sign & follow to the right
• + 33ish Km’s into Dullstroom, past BP garage on left  & upper village shops, thru 1st stop street & straight down hill into the lower village through 2nd stop street.
• Look out on left for a stone walled restaurant called “Pickles & Things” & turn left into Lethabo Street (formerly Gunning St.),  keep going past the Post Office on left, over crest of hill, the paved road becomes a dirt road, descend to bottom of hill straight through last cross road (across Schoeman St.) & immediately turn first right into our entrance = the last house on right with half stone & white walls & grey roof. Guest parking under covered car-port on left & reception is at the main house on the right.  Suite 1 is up the stairs left of the garage and for suite 2, follow the stepping stone pathway to the right of the main house & up the stone stairs.

ACTIVITIES: Things to do,  places to go & shop... Enjoy country walks, browse the local cafes & boutiques only a short, pleasant walk into the village centre.  

Fly Fishing: Dullstroom isn't called "the fly fishing Mecca" of South Africa for nothing with some of the best trout rivers and dams in the country, it's a fly fisherman's dream! There are numerous fly fishing shops & coaching operators in and around town. (Shops listed below.)

Fishing at Dullstroom Municipal Nature Reserve Dams only a 10 minute country walk and in view from Tumbleweed backpackers.  At the entrance gate to the dam & nature reserve you can pay:-

Entrance fee of R5 per person per day  

Fishing licences on site

Full day  adult    R70 catch limit 2 fish  

Full day  child    R35  

Half day adult    R40 catch limit 1 fish  

Half day child     R20  

Top Dam = catch & take 

Bottom Dam  = catch & release only

The Angling shops in town sell month or year licences and advice on other dams, rivers and syndicates.

Walking & Running: Dullstroom is a  world renowned destination for Olympic high altitude athlete training or just enjoy strolling along the paths in our own wetland or in to the village.

Short Walk around the "circuit"  Turn right out our gate, right at the railway line servitude road, right at the gum trees and follow the road keeping right until you are back at our gate. If you would rather enjoy a more country version, you can go straight at the gum trees and follow the railway servitude next to the camp site, cross the wooden bridge at the river and go as far as you like or have time for.

Day or half day Hike to Suikerboschkoppie Mountain and Nature Reserve with Fishing Dams:  As viewed from your door step at Tumble weed a short walk away from our gate turn right to the railway servitude,  right again to the gate near gum trees,  turn right down to the municipal entrance gate on the left (Entry R5pp),  cross the dam wall and follow the trail up the koppie for a birds eye view of Dullstroom, visit the old Boer War forts & memorials. (Keep your eye out for wild antelope & other game)

Day Hike: Ama Poot Poot Hiking trail: This is about 17kms outside Dullstroom. The Mountain reedbuck route 13kms or 6kms angles over rocky ridges and kranzes with rock formations. It crosses rivers, wanders past game to a lovely 10m high waterfall.
